Baby Girl is a Labrador retriever-pit bull mix. She’s wearing a black collar with a pink rabies tag issued in Douglas County. If you see her, call 678-920-8147
Baby Girl, the dog that foiled a robbery and may have saved her master’s life, is still lost.
And the people who love her are still looking.
“We haven’t given up yet,” said Marie Moore, whose husband, Craig Touchet, is heading up the search for Baby Girl. “We want our Baby Girl back.”
To recap: Baby Girl was with Touchet in the early hours of Christmas Day. They were staying in an extended-stay motel in College Park, where Touchet was living to be closer to his job. He awoke shortly after midnight when he heard knocking at his door. Looking outside, he saw a woman begging to be let in. When Touchet unbolted his door, an armed man pushed his way in. He shoved a handgun in Touchet’s face and demanded money.
That’s when Baby Girl acted. She jumped between the two, giving Touchet enough room to repel his attacker. The gunman fired a single shot and fled. So did Baby Girl.
A nationally renowned dog tracker came to Atlanta to help. She and three specially trained dogs trailed Baby Girl’s scent to Riverdale, where hundreds of volunteers have checked back yards and vacant lots. They’ve put up posters and rallied support for the pit bull-Labrador mix on a Facebook site, Help Us Find Our Baby Girl. There have been sightings and false reports, high expectations and deep disappointments.
And still, no Baby Girl.
“We’re still looking,” said Moore. “We miss her.”
