The Cherokee County Board of Education has approved granting a permanent easement outside Ball Ground Elementary School so that the city of Ball Ground can install a sidewalk.
The school is at 321 Valley St. and the sidewalk would connect property south of the school and north of Valley to Old Canton Road. An easement of 0.88 acres was requested under a partnership agreement between the school district and city allowing easement acquisitions at no cost to the party requesting the action.
The city valued the easement at $16,700. The sidewalk project is being partially funded through federal transportation funds provided by the Georgia Department of Transportation, City Manager Eric W.Wilmarth said in a letter to the school district.
