Six students were taken to a local hospital Tuesday after a driver rear-ended a DeKalb County school bus in a minor accident, officials said.
The students were complaining of pain, but the injuries were believed to be minor. The crash happened at 7:45 a.m. on Browns Mill Road while the bus, carrying 31 students, was headed for Martin Luther King Jr. High in Lithonia, said Quinn Hudson, district spokesman.
"We're glad everybody is safe and sound," he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, adding: "The vast majority of the kids did not lose any instruction time.”
Though the bus wasn't badly damaged, the other students were taken to school by a different bus as a precaution. The original bus number was 1721.
The civilian driver was cited for following too close, according to DeKalb County police.
