For the seventh year, DeKalb County law enforcement agencies along with event founder Tom Walker Sr. with Save our Youth, brought together over a hundred teens ages 13-17 to interact with police in a fun, positive way.
The Annual Community Day event featured a morning of bowling, an afternoon of pizza and an entire day of conversation with law enforcement officers.
The aim was "to make sure our youth and our community understand and know that law enforcement is here to protect and serve them," DeKalb County Sheriff Jeffrey Mann told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"We're not the enemy. We're one of them," he said, in light of the nation's recent police-involved shootings.
More than one hundred kids turned out for the event and got to go home with back to school supplies to kick off the new school year.
