Sandy Springs officials said that controlled blasting will get underway next Wednesday at the site of the City Springs construction project and will last the next four to six weeks as needed.

Officials said traffic will be halted within 50 yards of each designated blasting location, which will be limited to Sandy Springs Circle and the western portion of Johnson Ferry Road. Traffic will be stopped a minute or so while the blasts happen, the site is inspected and the all-clear’s given.

The city said the blasts won’t be very loud or shake the earth and that they’ll happen in the afternoon before rush-hour begins.
