The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a list of eight street segments totaling 1.1 miles to be resurfaced using funds of the Georgia Department of Transportation Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program.
According to the grant application, the streets include Blue Stone Road from Sandy Springs Place to Hilderbrand Drive; and four sections of Colewood Way – from Bridgewood Valley Road to the east end, River Shore Parkway to Bridgewood Valley, Colewood Court to River Shore Parkway, and River Valley Road to Colewood Court.
Also, Regency Forest Court from Trimble Road to the northeast end; and two sections of Long Island Place – from Long Island Court to Bonnie Lane, and Long Island Drive to Long Island Court.
The city expects to receive $192,157 in state funds. The program requires a 30 percent local match, or $57,647. Total project cost is estimated at $290,858. “It is recommended that the city submit work in excess of the necessary amount to insure expenditure of the entire grant plus the required 30 percent,” staff said in a report to the council.
