The Sandy Springs City Council has approved contracts amounting to nearly $4.9 million to Blount Construction Co. Inc. for street repaving and asphalt repairs.
Blount was awarded a $4.2 million contract under the fiscal 2019 Capital Improvement Program and Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant program to resurface streets at 53 locations.
The work will include such major thoroughfares as Hammond Drive, Northridge Road, Mount Vernon Highway, Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Powers Ferry Road. About $906,447 of the cost will be covered by LMIG funds from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Separately, Blount won a $653,701 contract to perform deep mill asphalt repairs to streets at 42 locations around the city, including on the major streets noted above.
