The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a $659,254 contract with Autaco Development LLC to extend the Dudley Lane sidewalk to Chastain Memorial Park in Atlanta.

The contract has Autaco constructing about 4,000 feet of sidewalk, constructing curbs and gutters, and reconstructing driveways, according to a staff report to the council.

The project has an intergovernmental agreement between Sandy Springs and its bigger neighbor to the south. Atlanta will reimburse Sandy Springs $75,467 for the design and construction of 200 feet of sidewalk inside Atlanta city limits, staff said.

Autaco bid the second-lowest amount for the work. Though its offer was about $100,000 higher than the lowest bidder’s, that bidder was declared unqualified because it was not listed as a Prequalified Prime Contractor by the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Office of Contract Administration, staff said.
