The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a milestone in its developing City Center project.
Council Tuesday night OK’d a resolution naming Holder Construction of Atlanta the “construction manager at risk” for the project and authorizing the mayor and city attorney to negotiate a contract.
Holder will work with other project partners in both the design and construction phases, and will oversee construction of the civic facilities portion, said city spokeswoman Sharon Kraun. Construction includes city offices, performing arts center, city green, parking and supporting infrastructure.
Some preliminary work has been done to prepare for the performing arts center to be topped by city offices, but no specific architectural plans have been prepared, said Kraun.
The multi-million-dollar project will also incorporate retail and residential development.
