Sandy Springs is asking residents to check their phone bills to make sure the city and not Fulton County is receiving the 911 fee.

The $1.50 fee, assessed to landlines, cellular and VoiP service, helps fund location-based technology at 911 centers.

The city launched a joint 911 center in September, allowing the fee to be directed to Sandy Springs. The majority of city phone lines now go to the city, though officials say that some are not.

Residents are asked to complete a brief survey to assure their fees are going to the city. The survey is at www.sandyspringsga.org.
