Sandy Springs is moving toward adoption of a $463.4 million budget for the 2019 fiscal year that calls for the millage rate to remain unchanged at 4.731 mills and provides capital funding to address what officials call a “significant backlog of existing infrastructure deficiencies.”

Among the major spending points: roughly $7.7 million for transportation infrastructure, $1.5 million for storm water infrastructure, $4.5 million for land acquisitions and $285,325 for park projects, according to a budget presentation.

The approximately $110.5 million general fund provides for about $17.3 million for general government contracts for city services, $30.2 million for personnel and relate benefits, $33.5 million for operations and equipment, $17.2 million for capital improvement programs, and $12.3 million for other special funds.

The first public hearing on the budget was held June 5, and the second and final public hearing and City Council vote are set for June 19. Information: https://bit.ly/2LuFpzR
