On April 1, the Cobb County Department of Transportation will close Sandtown Road from Powder Springs Street to Beech Road to allow for construction work on the location’s roundabout.

Drivers should follow the posted detour signs, reduce their speed and exercise caution in the area, according to a Cobb County news release.

Weather permitting, this portion of Sandtown Road will reopen to traffic when the project is completed by July 31.

Construction of the roundabout will include a new two-lane roadway with curb and gutter and sidewalk extending to South Cobb Drive.

Dual left-turn lanes and a right-turn lane will be added at the intersection of Westside Drive and South Cobb Drive.

The existing traffic signal at Beech Road and South Cobb Drive will be removed, and a new traffic signal will be installed at South Cobb Drive and Westside Drive.
