The head of the accrediting agency for Georgia schools will address community concerns about the accreditation status of the Clayton County school system at a forum Monday. Mark Elgart president of AdvanceEd, the accrediting agency for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is slated to attend the 7 p.m. “informational session” at the Clayton State University Student Activities Center. School Board members, county commissioners, the Clayton legislative delegation, mayors of Clayton municipalities and business leaders also have been invited to attend the forum. SACS recently wrote a letter to the school board expressing concern over the board’s perceived in-fighting. The forum is open to the public and hosted by the Clayton County Ministers’ Conference, Clayton State University, the Association of Christian Ministers of Clayton County and the Forest Park Ministers’ Association. .
