The Roswell Planning Commission will consider a request this month for a shared-living community for up to 16 unrelated young adults with physical disabilities.

A hearing on the request by Champions Place, for 9460 Nesbit Ferry Road, is set for 7 p.m., Oct. 18, at Roswell City Hall. The petitioner, Champions Community Foundation, seeks a variance to increase the maximum of six unrelated persons per property to 16.

Champions Place seeks to provide physically challenged young adults with “the opportunity to live independently and experience a sustainable, self-sufficient and resilient life in their community,” according to the organization’s website.

It is one of two initiatives by the foundation. The other is the Titan Wheelchair Sports program.
