Roswell’s recreation department has been recognized for its work with physically and developmentally disabled children and adults by being given the 2016 BlazeSports Triumph of the Human Spirit Award.
The Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Development was honored recently at a ceremony in Duluth, commending programs that have made a significant impact in Georgia through adaptive sport and recreation.
“We are creating an environment of inclusion – for both participants and their families – that demonstrates they are an important part of our community,” said Morgan Rodgers, director of the city department.
Roswell officials also cited such recently completed projects as an indoor therapeutic pool at the Adult Aquatic Center, and the Rotary Dream Field at the Waller Park Extension.
BlazeSports is a Norcross-based nonprofit that seeks to change the lives of individuals with physical disabilities through adaptive sport and recreation.
