The League of American Bicyclists has awarded Roswell a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community Award for its support of bicycle-oriented activities and infrastructure, city officials announced.
Roswell was the first municipality in Georgia to earn the distinction in 2006 and has continued its status for 11 consecutive years, officials said.
“The BFC award is a testament to Roswell’s commitment to improving conditions for bicycling through investment in bicycling promotion, education programs, infrastructure projects and special events,” said Steve Acenbrak, director of the Roswell Transportation Department.
Bike Roswell, a local advocacy group, assisted the city in highlighting its bike-friendly programs and initiatives – including the construction of new bike lanes, a new bike-sharing program, bicycle-oriented special events, and the city’s annual cycling festival – during the awards application process.
