The city of Roswell approved regulations on where and how fireworks can be sold, as a follow-up to the Georgia General Assembly’s legalization of them statewide.
The Roswell City Council on Monday night approved the sale of fireworks from permanent or temporary buildings in the Commercial Mixed-use, Commercial Corridor and Commercial Heavy zoning categories. The ordinance also requires temporary facilities to be set up within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant or fire department connection. Temporary locations must pay $500 for a license valid for 90 days.
The measure also allows the city to issue special-use permits for those wanting to use fireworks outside state-specified times. The permits cost $100 and have to be applied for at least 15 days prior to an event.
