Roswell will host a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, Jan. 24, for its portion of Rucker Road improvements, a joint project with neighboring Alpharetta.
The groundbreaking is set for 2 p.m. at 12155 Houze Road, Alpharetta. Roswell’s portion of the project runs from Houze to the city limits, and Alpharetta’s portion starts from there and extends to Wills Road.
“The project will add a new center turn lane, as well as eight-foot multi-use trails on both sides of road and a three-foot bike shoulder,” according to a Roswell announcement.
The two cities are using the same contractor, C.W. Matthews. Roswell will fund its portion of the work, approximately $2.9 million, with TSPLOST funds. Its section of the project is anticipated to be completed in the winter of 2019-2020, shortly after Alpharetta finishes.
Rucker is expected to be closed within Alpharetta city limits from the end of May, the beginning of summer break for Fulton County schools, until the resumption of classes in early August, Roswell officials said. Information: https://bit.ly/2UcSN0d
