Rollingwood City Administrator Charles Winfield resigned abruptly Wednesday, before the regularly scheduled council meeting that night, according to Mayor Roxanne McKee.

The last item on the agenda stated: “Discussion and possible action regarding the evaluation, compensation or potential disciplinary action of the city administrator Charles Winfield.”

“In connection with Charles, there was no allegation or suspicion of any violation of the law or impropriety,” McKee said.

McKee had not further comment, and Winfield was not immediately available for comment.

Winfield submitted his a one-sentence letter of resignation the same day.

“I am resigning my position of City Administrator for the City of Rollingwood effective immediately upon the city’s receipt of this letter,” Winfield said in the letter.
