A portion of Locust Grove-Griffin Road is to be renamed in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Locust Grove City Council approved the move at its most recent meeting, and officials said it was in response for inquiries from a number of citizens.

The renaming will affect the road from the post office to Tanger Boulevard, a stretch that includes Shoal Creek Baptist Church, where King’s father preached in the 1930s.
