The city of East Point will host the 39th Annual Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 14 at Tri-Cities High School, located at 2575 Harris Street in East Point.

The city will temporarily close the following roads from 8 a.m. to noon on “Race Day,” according to a press release:

- R.N. Martin Street from Norman Berry Drive North to Irene Kidd Parkway

- Both ramps from Connally Drive to Norman Berry Drive

The Sickle Cell Road Race/Walk is an Road Runners Club of America-certified state championship race. Participants will run the challenging 7k (4.3 miles) course or walk the comfortable 4k (2.5 miles) course down Main Street and through East Point‘s diverse communities.

The 7k run is chip timed, the course is certified, and it’s a Peachtree Road Race qualifier which takes place rain or sun.

All race proceeds support the mission of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc. and its programs to serve patients afflicted with sickle cell disease.
