Roaches, flies found at Chinese eatery that failed Cobb health check

Georgia has rules it requires every food service operation to follow. These are just a few of the many health and safety regulations.

A Chinese restaurant in Marietta failed its recent health inspection in part for having live flies and roaches, according to Cobb County health department records.

House of Lu III on Powder Springs Road Southwest scored a 66 on Thursday. Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

A manager was not immediately available for comment Friday.

The inspector docked points after seeing workers not washing their hands between tasks and using a cloth to wipe tables and then wrap ribs to store inside the walk-in cooler.

There was an accumulation of grease on the hood and a build-up of food debris throughout the kitchen.

And then there were the live flies and roaches in the kitchen. The inspector had the staff replace the screen door at the back entrance.

The eatery scored an 89 in April, a 77 in July 2017 after failing earlier that month with a 65 for issues that included live flies.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
