Rezoning of 317-acre tract approved in Henry County

Henry County commissioners approved a multi-use zoning for a large tract in Stockbridge.
The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Nov. 19 regular meeting to approve a rezoning to MU (multi use) for 317 acres on Flippen Road, north of Walt Stephens Road and on the eastern border of I-75, for a development that expected to include single-family and multi-family residences along with office and commercial uses.
It is part of a larger 436-acre tract that includes land in the city of Stockbridge as well as Clayton County. A total of 1,643 homes is proposed under the updated site plan, which no longer contains a large industrial component previously planned there.
This site has been also been suggested for a possible convention center/arena complex, although a feasibility study for that has not yet been conducted.
