Crime Stoppers is offering a reward in the case of a hit-and-run that killed a mother and child in Bartow County.

Maria Tabuena, 29, and her 4-year-old daughter, Melina Trichell, died in a crash on I-75 on Dec. 21 when their vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer, the Georgia State Patrol said. They were in a 1998 Ford Expedition going northbound in the right lane at Exit 293 when the truck changed lanes and hit their vehicle on the left side. The truck left the scene as the Expedition ran off the road, struck a guardrail and an overhead sign support post, and caught fire.

Authorities are still looking for the truck driver and a late 90s, “long-nose,” maroon Peterbilt truck with orange fenders that was pulling a silver trailer. A witness said the refrigerated trailer had two red horizontal stripes on the door. The tag may contain the letter H and the numbers 1214, but the state is not known.

Anyone with information on the case should call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477, go online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or text CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for the reward of up to $2,000.
