A rare Army of Tennessee regimental flag used during the Civil War will go on permanent display on Tuesday at Kennesaw's Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History.

The flag, complete with bullet holes and blood stain, had been in the possession of an area family for 145 years. The flag was carried throughout the entire Atlanta campaign of the War, including the Battle of Franklin in Tennessee. It was saved from surrender by an Army Private who hid the flag in his boot.
