A Gwinnett County restaurant that failed a half dozen health inspections has passed with an 82. Two weeks ago, Channel 2's Carol Sbarge reported on how Wok Rock had dozens of health violations including a cockroach infestation.

In Tuesday’s inspection, Wok Rock had five violations and a grade of B.

Some customers who eat there often told Channel 2’s Carol Sbarge that they have been pitching in to help the restaurant on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, which failed six inspections in two years.

Customer Yale Xiao says the owners have a language barrier.

He says they didn’t realize if the restaurant has a lower score, they have to correct it in a timely fashion.

Xiao and others have also helped bring in contractors to fix up the restaurant. Wok Rock failed two inspections with a 55 and a 50. At that point, the Gwinnett County Health Department suspended the restaurant’s permit.

One of the problems was a cockroach infestation. In Tuesday’s inspection the inspector noted there were a few roaches but says pest control came out Monday and will continue to monitor. A health inspector will follow up by Sept. 1 to make sure all roaches are gone.

Xiao says his family and friends eat at Wok Rock. He says he and others in the community want the restaurant to be in compliance. Several customers who speak English have been explaining to the owners how utensils must be stored and food clearly marked with dates.

If Wok Rock fails its next inspection, its permit could be suspended again.
