Cooked wings and nuggets at Jaz Chinese restaurant in south Forsyth County were not at safe temperatures during a recent routine health inspection. The inspector said food temperatures should be monitored by the restaurant’s certified food safety manager.

In addition, the manager should control food processes, the inspector said. Points were taken off because an employee was touching a phone while prepping food. Another employee returned to the kitchen and began preparing food without first washing hands. Employees’ drinks were stored throughout the kitchen and in the food prep area.

Jaz Chinese, 270 Saint Claire Drive, Alpharetta, scored 53/U. The restaurant’s previous scores were 74/C and 70/C.

Among other code violations, raw pork was being thawed in a large container on top of bulk food bins. Containers of food were uncovered. Utensils stored as clean had an accumulation of food debris. Used plastic containers, which should have been discarded, were being reused.

Points were also taken off because the current health score and inspection report were not posted for customers to see.

Jaz Chinese will be re-inspected.
