Containers of coleslaw at Pizza Valley in East Point were at unsafe temperatures of 58 degrees and 48 degrees, despite being inside a small reach-in refrigerator.

Cut tomatoes in the fridge were also well above safe temperatures, and the Fulton County health inspector told the restaurant to have the unit repaired.

Pizza Valley, 3061 Washington Road, East Point, scored a 62/U on the routine inspection, down from previous scores of 98/A and 74/C.

Among other code violations, clean pizza boxes were stored on the floor in the front service area, there were no thermometers in cooler and freezer units, floors throughout the food prep area were dirty with food debris and there were multiple inspects flying around.

Pizza Valley will be re-inspected.

In DeKalb County, Rice Mac, 2050 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, failed a routine inspection with a 62/U.

Employees were rinsing their hands under running water, instead of washing them with soap, before touching food contact surfaces, the inspector said.

Also, food contact surfaces and utensils were not sanitized after being washed, and multiple clean knives still had food debris on them. Multiple food items in the main kitchen were out of safe temperature range. Tofu and pork dumplings were discarded.

Rice Mac had previous health scores of 84/B and 91/A. The restaurant will be re-inspected.

In other news: Recently reviewed Versace Dominican Restaurant, 510 Pleasant Hill Road, Lilburn, scored 94/A on a follow-up inspection.
