An Atlanta Wings in the city failed a recent routine inspection because the manager in charge was not certified in food safety and lacked understanding in key areas of risk control, the inspector said.
The Fulton County inspector observed an employee washing hands without soap. And a prep food employee switched from working with raw food to ready-to-eat food without washing hands. The employee hand sink was blocked from use by a coffee maker.
Atlanta Wings, 3 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., Atlanta, failed the routine inspection with a 58/U. Previous scores were 72/C and 96/A.
In other code violations, the prep surface was not sanitized after being contaminated. Food residue was on the table next to the fryers, the inspector said. Also, tongs used for wings were stored on a dirty cardboard box, and they were not sanitized before being used to pick up cooked wings.
Points were also taken off because partially cooked chicken wings sitting out next to the fryer were uncovered and exposed to contaminants. They were also at unsafe temperatures. Raw wings in a cooler with ice were also not within the correct temperature range.
Prepared foods and juice drinks made in-house were not date-marked for disposal. And other food containers were not properly labeled.
The facility had grease accumulation on walls, ceiling and vents, the inspector said. The inspector also observed store-bought tracking powder pest chemicals in the food prep area.
Atlanta Wings will be re-inspected.
