Replacement sought for Cherokee school board head

The Cherokee County School District is seeking candidates to fill the unexpired term of board chair Janet Read.

District officials said any adult resident can access and complete an application form on the county’s website, cherokee.k12.ga.us. Officials said applications must be complete, signed by a notary public and delivered to the school board’s attorney on or before July 7.

Read announced at the close of last week’s meeting that she was resigning to take a position with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as the community liaison for Cherokee County. Her resignation took effect June 14. Read was first elected to the board in 2004.
