The Atlanta Regional Commission has received a third year of funding, totaling $120,000 to continue its work with Community AGEnda, an initiative of Grantmakers In Aging aimed at helping communities become more age-friendly, meaning great places to grow up and grow old. GIA, a national association of funders committed to improving the experience of aging in America, made the award with funds provided by the Pfizer Foundation. The Atlanta region is one of five communities participating in Community AGEnda nationally.
To develop the plan in the most inclusive way possible, ARC has invited individuals from around the region to attend a series of “community conversations” to help prioritize aging services within the Atlanta region for the next five years. Two of these meetings will be held Jan. 13 at the Central DeKalb Senior Center and Jan. 20 at the Hidden Valley Senior Center in Stockbridge.
The effort will culminate at an Aging Summit held March 5 at the Loudermilk Center in Atlanta.
