Atlanta-based rapper 21 Savage and the Fulton County Solicitor General’s Office are raising awareness about gun violence at an event Tuesday.

The event, “Guns Down, Heads Up,” is expected to draw 700 students to the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, Channel 2 Action News reported. The summit will also include a job fair.

Students will hear from 21 Savage, law enforcement, prosecutors and victims of gun violence.

“We know that by having (21 Savage) speak to the young people it will spread the message even more broadly, Fulton County Solicitor General Keith Gammage told Channel 2. “They will listen to him.”

21 Savage, whose real name is She'yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested Feb. 3 after it was revealed he is actually from the United Kingdom and was brought to the U.S. when he was a child. ICE officials said he overstayed his visa.

He has since become an advocate for immigration reform, but gun violence also hits close to home.

Joseph told Channel 2 he’s lost friends to gun violence.

“Guns kill people so it's best to just stay clear of that stuff and just do the right thing,” he said.
