The Henry County Animal Care and Control Department has issued a 31-day Rabies quarantine for a one-mile area surrounding 75 Chafin Drive in McDonough. The quarantines comes after county animal control officials received a call on Oct. 11 that a dog had fought and killed a raccoon. The raccoon tested positive for the rabies virus at the Georgia Public Health Laboratory. During the quarantine, residents in the are should make sure all of their companion animals have a current rabies vaccine from a licensed veterinarian, and if not, must do so immediately.Also residents should be aware of any pets or wildlife acting in an unusual manner.
