All humans and their fur babies were able to escape an apartment fire reported Tuesday in Cobb County.

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services crews were dispatched at 6:29 p.m. April 2 to the fire at an apartment building at 1525 Terrell Mill Road in Marietta.

Crews arrived at the scene and noticed an apartment unit had flames spouting from its roof. Firefighters began an attack on the fire and contained it within one unit, which suffered heavy damage, Cobb fire said on its Facebook page.

Residents were evacuated and during a search of the building, crews found and rescued six rabbits from the structure.

Cobb fire spokeswoman Denell Boyd said all six rabbits belonged to one resident. None of the residents needed assistance from the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire has been classified as an accident.

“Tremendous job by our crews,” the agency said.
