With 2018 an election year for a number of county offices, the Henry County Board of Commissioners set qualifying fees for those races with a single vote at its Jan. 16 regular meeting.

Each qualifying fee is based on 3 percent of that elected office’s salary. The smallest amount is $511.38 for candidates in the Board of Education races, as they make $17,046 per year. Districts 4 and 5 will have elections this year. Also on the 2018 ballot will be Board of Commissioners seats in districts 3, 4 and 5. The $35,000 salary dictates a $1,050 qualifying fee. Other positions’ fees approved include chief magistrate ($2,533.76/$84,458.82), solicitor general ($4,379.47/$145,982.20) and State Court judge ($4,546.68/$151,555.90).
