Proposed school calendar calls for July start date

The Henry County Board of Education has presented its proposed 2017-18 calendar for public review, and if it is approved in the next two months, it would mark the first time ever that the school year has begun in July. Students would start classes July 31, 2017, under the plan. Fall break would remain the third week of September, with full weeks out of school for Thanksgiving, winter and spring break as well as two weeks for Christmas break. The school year is scheduled to end May 25, 2018. The 2016-17 calendar was approved last January and it calls for classes to begin Aug. 1, 2016. Information: www.henry.k12.ga.us.
