Brisk Powerball sales prompted lottery officials to boost the jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing to $300 million.

The jackpot, which had previously been announced as $290 million, has been growing since a lottery player in Pennsylvania won $131.5 million in the June 22 drawing.

The record Poweball jackpot of $590.5 million was won by a Florida lottery player on May 18.

If a single player matches all six numbers drawn Saturday night and chooses the cash option, he or she will receive a payout of approximately $172 million before taxes, Georgia Lottery officials said.

The jackpot for Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing is $13 million.

Powerball and Mega Millions drawings can be seen on WSB-TV, just before the Channel 2 Action News Nightbeat at 11 p.m.
