Registration is underway for the Powder Springs Citizens Police Academy. Participants will get hands-on experience of what it is like to be a police officer through a modified version of the police academy. Among the topics will be Crime Scene Processing, Criminal Procedure, Traffic Law, Vehicle Pullovers and Community Policing. Part of the experience will include ride-alongs with patrol officers, field trips to Cobb County’s jail and firearms training with range instructors.

The class will meet 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, starting on Feb. 27. This program will last 13 weeks and end with graduation on May 22. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a criminal history background check.
