The Powder Springs City Council voted Monday night to raise the annual salary of the city’s finance director from $72,270 to $87,000 to be comparable to that of other department heads in the city.

Since she was hired in September 2013, Diana Belanger has been paid the $72,000 annual salary instead of the $85,000 yearly salary paid to her two predecessors.

Also, Belanger was commended Monday night for receiving the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association.

Previously, Belanger was an accountant III with Cobb County government.

She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business from Kennesaw State University.
