The Powder Springs Police Department will use an alternative to polygraph technology because of a Monday vote by the City Council.
Including training and hardware support, the city will spend $10,000 from police department seized funds for a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer.
The CVSA has been developed to use voice analysis as a truth detector, a technology that is believed to be more accurate and technologically advanced than the polygraph.
Eliminating the need for third-party testing with polygraphs, the CVSA will save costs and perform truth detection examinations of new hire candidates as well as suspects.
