The Powder Springs City Council has decided 4-0 to withdraw two ordinances that would have increased the annual pay of the mayor and Council members.

Their pay has remained the same since 2005.

If the ordinance had been approved, the mayor would have received $21,000 annually instead of the current $18,000, beginning Jan. 1, 2020.

Also, each of the five Council members would have been paid $15,000 annually instead of the present $12,000, likewise beginning Jan. 1.

With Mayor Al Thurman absent, Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Bordelon presided in his place.
