The Powder Springs City Council is scheduled to hold its work session at 6 p.m. Monday in advance of its regularly scheduled 7 p.m. meeting, embarking on its search for three replacement employees.
However, the temporary location still will be at the Municipal Court building, 4483 Pineview Drive, while the Council Chamber in the Community Development building, 4488 Pineview Drive, undergoes renovations to make it handicap accessible and to update the audio/visual system.
Among the issues facing Mayor Patricia Vaughn and the City Council are the selection of a new police chief to replace Charlie Sewell who retired on Dec. 31 and a new city manager to replace Brad Hulsey who announced his resignation in September and left on Nov. 21.
City Clerk Dawn Davis, who resigned on Dec. 19, has been replaced by Executive Assistant Kelly Axt, a post created for Axt in October 2013 after she had served for four years as an executive assistant at McEachern Memorial United Methodist Church in Powder Springs.
Vaughn has told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution city officials also will be seeking someone to serve as the new executive assistant.
