The Powder Springs City Council voted 5-0 to approve the nearly $17 million budget, containing no property tax increases, that will become effective July 1.

The city will add three full-time jobs for a total of 80 full-time employees - all of whom will receive salary increases of 2.5 to 4 percent for an average of 3.6 percent.

Totaling almost $2 million, 12 capital improvement projects will be funded, including a new call box with flash camera at the Silver Comet Trailhead and installation of call boxes on all the city trails.

Also, the Linear Park on Richard D. Sailors Parkway will be expanded to include more playground equipment, a rock wall, bouldering, active adult exercise station and a dog park.
