A Chinese restaurant in Johns Creek failed its recent health inspection after county officials noted improper storage of meat and chicken, employees not washing their hands correctly and debris throughout the main kitchen.
Café 101, located at 11950 Jones Bridge Road, scored a 69/U during an Oct. 14 inspection from the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness.
Throughout the kitchen, inspectors saw dishes being stored near the meat preparation sink. Chicken was placed on top of red meat in the kitchen cooler. Dishes used to serve food were not sanitized properly, according to health inspectors.
Other citations came because of debris on equipment throughout the main kitchen. Inspectors also observed utensils being stored between equipment at the grill and dishwashing areas, according to the report.
Naushad Anwer, who answered the phone at the restaurant, said in a phone interview Tuesday he is friends with the current manager. Anwer wants to buy the property and is working with the manager to fix the issues listed on the health inspection, he said.
The low scoring likely occurred because health officials came to inspect the restaurant just as he was in the process of cleaning, Anwer said.
“I am doing all I can to fix this. I don’t want any health issue in this restaurant,” he said.
Restaurants that have low scores are generally re-inspected within 10 days.
