Fifty-nine percent of 20,927 Gwinnett residents polled Monday night said it was very important for metro Atlanta to increase its investment in transportation.

Another 25 percent said it was somewhat important to increase the region’s transportation investment. Sixteen percent said it was not important.

The residents polled participated in a teleconference in which local officials answered questions about a proposed transportation sales tax that voters will consider next year. In all, more than 147,000 households participated in the teleconference.

The poll results are not scientific and may not reflect the views off Gwinnett residents generally.
