A two-week crime spree ended with the arrest of two men. Police said they believe there are more victims and a third suspect on the run.
“They put the gun to the back of my head and asked me where my keys were," a carjacking victim said.
He talked to Channel 2’s Liz Artz about to describe what happened when two men pistol whipped him and stole his car. He asked Channel 2’s Liz Artz to not identify him, but police said a two and a half week long crime spree started with that car- jacking off Surrey Park Place in Cobb County. He told Artz he was ambushed as he walked to his front door. The man emailed Artz pictures of head injuries he said he received after being pistol whipped.
"One of the guys rolled the window down said if I got up he was going to shoot me,” the carjacking victim said.
Police told Artz three men in all were involved, the two gunmen and a getaway driver. What's not clear is what happened from the time the suspects took the Jetta and then committed two home invasions back to back, police said.
"Some things took place during this two week gap, so we're requesting that if anyone was a victim of a crime involving this vehicle to please call us,” said East Point Police Capt. Cliff Chandler.
Saturday a woman told Artz she was awakened in the middle of the night after power was cut to her home.
"I heard a thud,” said a home invasion victim.
Investigators said the same men who stole the Jetta used a decorative yard brick to smash the rear kitchen window to her College Park home.
"My heart was beating so loud it was like I couldn't think my hands were trembling I was terrified,” the home invasion victim said.
The woman said she locked herself in her bathroom, got in her shower and called 911. The operator, she told Artz, told her not to talk.
"She was telling me not to talk because she didn't want them to find me," said the home invasion victim.
She said the suspects got away with her car keys and a television. Police said they then drove to a home in East Point, where they attempted to break down the front door. East Point police said officers arrived within a minute and a half of getting the 911 call at the home off Hagger Way.
Officers arrested two suspects but they told Artz a third man got away.
