Authorities have located a 76-year-old woman who wandered away from a Hall County memory care facility overnight.

According to Oakwood police, Jo Baxter left the Waterford at Oakwood assisted living facility about 1 a.m. Thursday. The facility is located near the intersection of Mundy Mill and McEver roads.

Baxter was discovered shortly before noon after an “extensive search” involving several agencies, authorities said.

According to Oakwood police, a Georgia State Patrol helicopter spotted the woman lying in the woods near Mundy Mill Road. She was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for observation, but is expected to be OK.
