Gwinnett County and Braselton police are looking for men they have dubbed the "Head lamp bandits."

The men are accused of breaking into businesses with a head lamp and using saws to cut into safes.

In surveillance video from a Subway restaurant, you can hear a man at work. At one point he almost injures himself trying to saw into a safe.

While he works, Braselton police say he has someone watching out for him.

"He is talking on a walkie-talkie talking to his buddy outside to the look-out guy. When he was talking to his buddy, he throws out the name Nick which is pretty good for us to compare to other jurisdictions in Gwinnett," said Braselton Assistant Police Chief Lou Solis.

Solis says the criminal is not loyal.

"He's going through the bank bag, and he's actually telling his buddy 'hey many I just found a bunch of ones.' But inside the bag is $1,400 so there is no honor among thieves," Solis says.

Solis says after they broke into the Subway, they hit a Mexican and Chinese restaurant next door. In all, they think the Head Lamp Bandits have hit six businesses since April.

Investigators say an hour before the men hit three restaurants, then went to the back of the building where they cut every line inside a communications panel. They waited to make sure that didn't trigger the alarm system and then used a crow bar to pry open the back doors.

In some cases, the men stay inside for up to an hour.

"It costs us about $500 to fix our door and it's an inconvenience for us as a business. It's very disappointing. We are hard workers and we take care of everybody in the community and everybody likes us," said Alvaro Rivas who works at the El Centinela restaurant.

The men only got a little more than $100 dollars at El Centinela.

Braselton police are urging business owners to never leave any cash inside. They are stepping up patrols by walking around shopping centers at night to maybe catch the men during their next crime.
