Police released a surveillance photo Monday of a man they suspect stole a car with a child inside from an Atlanta gas station.

On May 30, Hilary Grotewold was at the Racetrac station on Marietta Boulevard putting air in her tires when her car was stolen with her 4-year-old son in the back seat.

“I jumped on the roof and started yelling, ‘there’s a baby in the car, there’s a baby in the car,’” Grotewold said on May 30. “He lurched forward so I kind of fell off to the side, so I jumped onto the mirror and tried to hang on to that, and then I rolled off.”

She continued chasing the car, which turned into a nearby CVS parking lot. The driver then fled on foot, taking with him the Grotewold’s purse and phone, according to the incident report.

“Within an hour of the incident surveillance cameras captured a male attempting to withdraw money from an ATM using the victim’s credit card,” Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee said in a statement on Monday.
