Roswell police have charged an Alpharetta man after employees at a Kohl's store caught him spying on a teenaged girl trying on clothes.
Kareem Habbal, 19, faces a peeping Tom charge stemming from the Dec. 21 incident at the Holcomb Bridge Road store location.
"One of the employees spotted a gentleman going into the lady's dressing room, which automatically was an alarm for her," Officer Lisa Holland told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik. "They caught him down on the ground, on all fours."
Holland said the 17-year-old victim had no idea Habbal had been watching her.
"That was great that this alert employee saw this person do that before anything else could have happened," said Holland.
Store customers commended the employees for taking an active role in capturing the suspect.
"I manage a retail store as well and I hope my employees would be quick to react like that and do the right thing and make sure that everyone's taken care of in the store," said Cameron Truss. "It's inappropriate, uncalled for and unneeded."
A neighbor of the 17-year-old victim said she was disturbed to hear of the allegations.
"What an awful feeling that you can't go in a dressing room and feel like you're safe or protected," said Meltresia Brady. "You're just trying on clothes and here's some guy like this doing something like that."
Habbal is out of the Fulton County jail on bond. Petchenik tried to reach him for comment, but had not heard back as of Monday afternoon.
